“What I really like about Nova is that you become part of a family. You get to know the staff really well as well as the other mums. At Nova nobody’s a stranger!”

Family Programme participant since the summer of 2017

I found Nova by chance one day. We were evacuated after Grenfell and had been living in a hotel. Walking nearby, I saw the sign, went in and was given an activities sheet.

Since then I have been on many family trips with my girls, nine and seven, and have also introduced Nova to friends. My kids love it, I love it. It’s a wonderful organisation, the staff are so helpful and really listen to you.

One thing they do especially well are the family outings. For many of us days out with our children can take you away from your comfort one. It’s also very expensive. With Nova you go as a group, there’s always volunteers and staff at hand to keep an eye out. You feel at ease. You even get your £5 deposit back at the entry of the trip!

Together we’ve been to the cinema, the V&A, The British Museum, Legoland and many more. My husband joined us on our outing to the Chiltern Hills, it was so good to get out of London into nature, as a family. We got a chance to pet horses and enjoyed a picnic. It was amazing.

Last winter my children and I attended the Harrods Chrismas party, which was a lot of fun. We’ve also been to Kew Gardens. My girls had been there with school, but as it was my first time they were proudly showing me around. I felt like the child that day!

We’ve also been to Southend-on-sea and taken part in the arts and crafts events. And the list goes on …

What I really like about Nova is that you become part of a family. You get to know the staff really well as well as the other mums. At Nova nobody’s a stranger.
