Information, Advice and Guidance

‘NOVA provides an essential service to the community’ Matrix Assessment Review, May 2011

Aims

NOVA’s Information, Advice and Guidance service aims to provide a range of high quality support to help local people to prepare for and find employment, volunteering and training opportunities and to ensure that all of NOVA students are supported to progress in the ways that they are seeking to.

How we help

Our qualified and experienced advisers have expert local knowledge and work alongside volunteers to offer:

  • One-to-One Advice Sessions
  • CV and Jobsearch Workshops
  • Help with completing applications and writing cover letters
  • Interview Skills Coaching
  • Internet Access Drop-in Sessions

For clients who just need to tidy-up their CV, a CV workshop would be the perfect option. For clients who need more support and perhaps need help in identifying their goals and setting achievable targets to reach those goals, we offer a 12-week programme with a dedicated adviser.

How to join

Anyone interested in joining any of the Information, Advice and Guidance services simply needs to register with NOVA and make an appointment. Clients are asked to bring photo id (ideally a passport), proof of address and benefits, if applicable, when registering with NOVA.

Times and Dates

The Information, Advice and Guidance service is available 51 weeks per year, Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm. Some projects also involve evening sessions.
