ESOL  / English to Speakers of Other Languages

ESOL groups offer a fantastic opportunity for learners not only to improve their language skills, but also to meet new friends and interact in English with other members of the wider West London community; who originate from an enormously varied range of backgrounds.

Learners can build their confidence levels within our warm and friendly environment and take steps towards participating more fully in British society - avoiding marginalisation and reduced access to services such as the NHS and the vital areas of housing and education and employment.

• Our ESOL courses aim to offer high quality language learning in a local community setting delivered by a dedicated team of qualified volunteers and paid tutors.

• ESOL courses follow the ESOL core curriculum and use the Skills for Life materials published by the government Department for Education and Skills (DfES) supplemented by materials from other well-known ESOL/ EFL publishers as well as realia and tutor produced resources.

• ESOL courses are added to the Learning Curve Timetable at the beginning of each term, according to need and availability of tutors and space. For example if 5 people have been screened and assessed to have similar needs at Pre-Entry Level and we have resources available we will open a course for those students.

• There is a high tutor to learner ratio which ensures learner’s needs are met and good progress is made.

• All courses are completely free.
